Beat the Binge - 4 Easy Steps

Overindulging on chocolate at Easter time is almost inevitable. It’s EVERYWHERE!

Eating a little too much chocolate a few times a year isn’t that bad. The problem is, chocolate and sugar are highly addictive, they disrupt our blood sugar balance and damage our gut bacteria.

The good news is, the following steps will help you to easily recover from a chocolate binge and get you back on track to achieving your health goals.

Step 1: Let go of the guilt. Whether it was chocolate, hot cross buns, alcohol or simply too much food – let it go. Don’t beat yourself up. Overindulging happens from time to time, and with practice and mindful eating it will happen less often.

Step 2: Get rid of the chocolate. Having an abundance of chocolate in the house means you will most likely eat it. It may only be a little bit everyday but before you know it, it will become a habit. A treat here and there is absolutely ok but consuming sugar and chocolate frequently is not and will only make your cravings for it stronger.

Step 3: Stock up on veggies. Eat plenty of veggies and lean protein. Vegetables are a great source of nutrients and fibre and they will help to get your gut health back on track. Combining them with healthy fats and protein will keep you full and keep your blood sugar levels balanced throughout the day so you will be less likely to go looking for a sweet fix.

Step 4: Take a probiotic. This is an easy way to restore the good bacteria that keeps your gut healthy. Too much sugar and alcohol can damage this good bacteria which can leave us feeling bloated, sluggish and craving the wrong foods. Visit your local health food store and they can point you in the right direction. Inner Health Plus is one of my favourite over the counter brands.

Follow these 4 simple steps consistently and you will feel like your pre-Easter self in no time! If you’d like some extra guidance, comment below or contact me privately via email or on 0411-982-105.
